Tulipmania

 

You know I love Tulips, but I'm quite sure I would'nt trade my house for one... ;-) Anyway out of Tulipmania came lots of beautiful Tulips for us to enjoy, but also the most fabulous botanical illustrations. Take a look at the wonderful pictures in this scanned book.  

I'm sorry for the lack of posts the past days :-( I'm having a busy week, so I'm not posting daily at the moment. But my head is filled with great posts to share with you.... so more inspiration to come, as soon as I'm able to get it down on "paper" ;-)

Quilts for fall

Quilted fabric are getting popular once again, and this fall it looks very chic and modern. I'm hoping to see a lot of this style in interiors in the months to come! I think this looks best when the quilting is done on rich autumn or jewel toned colored facric, rather than clean pastels which have a tendency to look a bit duvet like ;-)

Art that inspires

Currently I'm fascinated with the work of artist Bradley Narduzzi Rex. Educated as an architect he launched a line of modern furniture in 1996, but after moving to Mexico in 1998 he re found his old passion for painting.

When I was a kid my mum always tried to get me into Liberty prints, but I was obsessed with dark tweed and tartan ...you would think I ought to have outgrown that phase...but I think I never will....  Somehow her insisting seems to have influenced me on a deeper level though as I'm madly in love with Liberty of London's Autumn/Winter collection ...

A long lasting obsession with tweed..

For as long as I can remember I've had an obsession with tweed, and autumn is the tweed season for me. I think its the mixture of stylish and cosy that really does it for me ...and living in a cold climate it also keeps me comfortably warm.

Tweed is also the perfect interior fabric ,and will add a raw feel to an otherwise polished interior. Using colored and tartan tweed for upholstery is a great way of adding interest to a room.

I love that leather number 7 on that traditional bed in the first picture ... and that wall color in picture 4 is sooo perfect! And what about that big world map on the wall! Perfect!

So much inspiration can be taken from old movie stills, and incorporated into a modern interior. Currently I'm mad about the grey, white and chartreuse in picture 2 ...I could totally see this in a contemporary interior...in fact I think I could move straight into that interior...

Which is your favorite frame? Or do you really hate this style? I'd love to know :-)

Don't you just love all the reruns of old series in the summer? I was hoping for a rerun of my favorite series The man from U.N.C.L.E, but until then I'm doing a small rerun of my favorite stills here :-) Enjoy!

The man from U.N.C.L.E is so fun with its super cool set design, stylish outfits and lots of wild cars, jets and helicopters...and that groovy music ;-) Besides Robert Vaughn is awsome as Napoleon Solo! Beats Bond anyday!
